Recorded For Training Purposes (Series 3) Page 18

Update - I believe the non-comm submissions are being worked through at the moment. At a guess it's probably unlikely that much of it will go into the weekend's recording, because of the time factor, but the one's after are a possibility.

Would they have got back to people to tell them that their stuff's being used or that they want that person to submit more material yet?

OK, yes I'm sure that's question's been asked God knows how many times.

(Edit: Sorry, must read posts more carefully. I'm guessing the answers are no on both counts)

I've been told some of my stuff is being used, but no idea at which recording... I'm sincerely hoping this weekend, but we'll see I guess.

Are you known to RFTP? Or is this an unexpected email?

Did you submit as a non-comm writer or using your previous contacts?

Er, both: non-comm to previous contacts. Same as Afinkawan, I believe...

Sorry, meant unsolicited rather than non-comm. But glad your answer suggests still hope for those of us who just sent in to the central e-mail address.

Expect rejection, that ways its always a nice surprise if you get in.

Yep, I get invited to A LOT of parties...

Not sure. I'd guess not but it's hard to tell.

I believe it is this weekend.

Really? Blimey. Good knowledge. Saturday's Lotto numbers would be good as well...

All in all, a decent show last night. Afraid I didn't note down which sketches were performed and my memory is absolutely terrible, but the wallcharts runner stood out - 'sticks of England'.... brilliant....

Anyone else go?

Ah, nice one.

Drop me a PM if you want an immediate report on your sketche(s)....

I'm waiting to hear from my spies if any of my stuff got recorded last night.

I got an email from them inviting me to a non-coms meeting this week, so I'm hopeful.

I believe that's a good sign. Apparently a good proportion of last night's show was made up of non-comms, so there's a very good chance.

Any vague titles for the sketches - might give us a clue if they were in or not...

So if you got something in, you'd probably have received an e-mail?

So which one are you? There were 6 writers I knew there last night - me, John, Matt, Kate, Madeline, Pete.

I completely forgot to note the sketches in the second half but the first half ones who I don't know the writer were:

Soap Opera Forecast, Facebook Friends, Automated call system (999), Various wallcharts, Choose your own BBC news, Great Lives - Google, Jeff's answerphone messages, Businessmen Hugs, Noise pollution, various M&S celebrity voice overs, Hugh Dent - various, Crime fighting architects, Principality of Leather, Mr D'arcy out of office, anti-social mobile phone, Actors instead of a new telly, Alcoholic banjo helpline.

Sorry Griff, none of yours were used. Maybe they will be in the next recordings. Apparently they had something like 1500 sketches sent to the central email address. They were both surprised and pleased at the standard of the submissions. At the read through on Friday it took them 4 hours to get through about 2/3 of the sketches they wanted to consider for the show, so if your material doesn't get in, it's because it's up against some stiff competition.

As for the non-comms meeting on Friday it sounds like it's some people who were good and they might want some re-writes, and some people who show potential but managed to write the same sketch as about 300 other people (i.e. using a ouija board and getting through to a call centre/automated helpline, a satnav that either falls in love with the driver or turns into Hal from 2001 etc.). Whichever you are, make the effort to go and you should find it very useful.

Also, the stuff on last night was mostly from the first half of the alphabet. My surname begins with W so mine will be in the next recording. You might find the same with your stuff.
