I guessing there's something about the current writing/acting set-up you're not happy with...

Quote: Retinend @ July 4, 2007, 4:21 PMThere are bigger reasons than this not to watch Doctor Who (amazingly). I stopped watching from the end of the New New York episode of this series. I'll consider watching again if either David Tennant or Russell T. Davis gets hit by a large vehicle.
You missed 3 great episodes then.
'Blink' was great... genuinely scary. A touch of quantum physics (although understandably watered down) in there too... Schrodinger's Angels, anyone?
I think Tennant is amazing. The first Doctor who is both likeable and can actually act.
And Tate being the new companion will probably ruin his last series.
To say I am gutted is an enormous understatement.
The final five (or six?) episodes of this series were fantastic! Blink was terrifying.
I think we should just wait and she, she really wasnt as bad as all that in the christmas episode; or so I thought anyway. And it will be a differnet dynamic, to have an older female companion for once, which could open up new dramatic opportunities. And for those who thought she was irritating in the xmas episode, I thought that was supposed to be the point, her being bolshy and shouty, but that she then mellowed as the episode developed. So, yeah, lets just wait and see; I remember the outcry when Billie was cast, and that turned out pretty well now didnt it? And, for whoever said this earlier, its not a kids show, its a familly show, its for everyone.

Er... no!

It was me... but I made full use of the apostrophe...
Quote: Rustle T Davis @ July 4, 2007, 2:32 PMI didn't say I didn't like her ... I just don't think she's right for the *BANG* Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
Rustle my comment wasn't aimed at you, sorry if you thought it was
Blink was a great episode but every series is getting so forumulaic, Blink was just the Peter Kay episode again, christmas specials are always set on earth, every series theres a period episode (or three), a spaceship episode, a hospital episode and the finale is always stopping an invasion without violence. I'm glad the word in the last episode was 'doctor' because if it was love i think I would have killed myself.
I think RTD has too much control over the series, he should stop writing and just produce instead so new blood can be brought in. Torchwood and now bringing in Cathterine Tates smacks of a 'take the money and run' attitude. Hope i'm wrong but I fear I may be right.
Just thought I'd say, I don't understand the appeal of Dr. Who? Maybe watching it for nostalgia reasons, but as far as I can see in my ignorant mind, it looks like a CBBC show, with extra cheese.
Well he's leaving soon, and Moffatt might be taking over.
At least it's back at all! And who knows if that would have happened without RTD.

Have you actually tried watching it?
I've watched it a few times. I can see it being fun if you don't take it too seriously, but it just reminds me of those type of adults that read Harry Potter.
I do that too.
Quote: charley rance @ July 4, 2007, 1:46 PMMy man who adores Dr Who is quite upset. He wants something to lust over & poor old Mrs Tate just does not have the Va va voom. (His words)
So it's not enough just having you then?
As much as i like Tennant, i'm always wanting Eccleston back. That man is a bloody fine actor.
Pff.
He was all right. Until Tennant came along and showed him up.
(Tennant does do a bit too much facial spazziness, but it works despite that, I think.)
