Isn't it gutting when...

Just watched the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special clips (looking forward to it), only to find one of the scene's is a scene I had drafted out for my Posties sitcomedydrama :(

Gutted.

Probably no real reason to be gutted tho' as the scene was intended for episode 5 or 6, and the chances of having to actually write any other episodes other than the one we shall send off are so very slim, but we all have our dream.

Posties is being written leading up to Christmas with the final episode ending on Christmas Eve.

I had Deano receive (as birthday presents (his birthday is on Christmas day but he celebrates it before) 4 presents all the same. Bluetooth headsets. He encourages his mates (Steve, Cereal Boy & Smiler) to wear them whilst on delivery (all in vans apart from Smiler who is on foot).

The scene being Deano gets carried away singing along to a Christmas song that's on the radio whilst driving, he phones Steve & Cereal on conference call we see them all join in the fun singing along and then call up Smiler and encourage him to join in, he reluctantly does so even tho' he has people walking by him whilst delivering.

The scene from Gavin & Stacey Christmas special (2nd one down)

Never mind hey!

:(

Sorry Random, but I saw the clip and don't understand it. Singing in a car, mate rings up and starts singing too. I don't get it. Just seems like padding on an (IMO) unfunny show. I couldn't imagine seeing such self-indulgence on Friends.

Load Error and may I say, "Thank God... and Jesus too."

This show is so mediocre that I can't actually bring myself to hate it.

James Corden, however...

Woo-hoo! More G & S slagging!!!! Awesome!! (Sarcasm) Random, I'm sure you don't have to worry, if you want to keep the bit in your script, keep it in.

Not that I'm a fan of the show but the proper place for critting G+S is the British comedy section. Keep this discussion to Random's 'writer' point about what you do / feel when a scene you've created also appears, by chance, in a current show.

does it matter? a scene in a future episode of a sitcom no one is currently interested in? Oh well would be the sensible reaction, dont feel gutted over it. That like being gutted when someone in your road buys a 911 because thats what you were going to buy if you won the lottery that week.

Instead - take confidence from the fact others have the same ideas as you! (although not sure your average postie could figure out how to set up a conference call)

Thanks for the replies although most are directed at G&S.

Thanks SlagA for bringing it back on track

Pete, I believe I also expressed much similar thinking with:

‘Probably no real reason to be gutted tho' as the scene was intended for episode 5 or 6, and the chances of having to actually write any other episodes other than the one we shall send off are so very slim, but we all have our dream.'

Good point :) 'take confidence from the fact others have the same ideas as you!'

Oh yes and thanks for pointing out us postie's are all as thick as shite... I had completely forgotten how stupid I am.

Yes, when I posted a dog turd to Leevil the other day, one of your lot returned it using the sender's address on the back. Put me right off my breakfast. :P
