I did the crime but not the time. Page 4

Maybe it was a dream...

Well I used to spend my summers climbing up on the roof of my school. That's as close to 'crime' as I've come, and a bit what would now be classed as "chavvy".

Nowadays I just restrict my stealing to BitTorrent.

Ah.

I used to walk into a big bookshop, pick up a massive book (say The Times Atlas Of The World) and then nonchalantly walk through the shop and out through another exit. Then go and flog the merchandise to my fence, a bloke who ran a second-hand bookstall in the market. I also used to shoplift porn mags to sell in school. Never got caught until one day I over-reached myself and got busted trying to steal The Led Zeppelin Songbook from a music shop. Fortunately I just got a stern talking-to and no police called. Nowadays I just restrict my stealing to BitTorrent.

And don't forget that you used to chuck breeze blocks off the top of flyovers!

Were you a rum'un as a lad, Griff?

One of my best friends is a head of year. He was telling us the other day about how he had to discipline a kid who told a teacher to f**k off. To be honest, it sounds like it actually was the teacher's fault. My mate is pissed off at the moment because they are getting so many teachers who know their subject but have no real aptitude for teaching and have just ended up there as a sort of fall-back plan as per the Armstrong/Miller sketches.

I also restrict my stealing to bit torrent but almost exclusively stuff you can't buy elsewhere.

Here's what my CD collection looks like:

And here's most of the DVD collection (there's one more shelf and all the box sets are on the floor below the shelves):

All bought legally, so I don't really think I can really be accused of costing the industry money!

It's true. Programmes I missed from places and things like episodes of Heroes not yet broadcast over here from other places. Occasional songs to see if I like someone and want to buy their album or not, old comedy stuff like Fist Of Fun, Saturday Night Armistice, Asylum that you can't buy etc. but I really can't be arsed downloading films and so on apart from old stuff that's not available every now and then. Usually old pulp sci-fi, not that very much of that goes on bit torrent.

I'm the same with books Griff. Our book collection far outweighs the CDs and DVDs put together. But they're all over the place so I haven't got a photo of them.

I suppose I'd have to wait for the missus to pick it all up again.

:D

I got 6 of the best with a cricket bat at school when I forgot my gym kit.

I suppose really I did the crime so deserved the punishment.

I can't imagine what it was like, back in the days when school kids were beaten by teachers. Did any of them ever fight back?

No - we knew our place then! Not that the teachers were sadistic bastards or anything.
