Ouch that's bad.
I had a friend who kept buying me gifts of stuff I already had. I wouldn't say anything except a polite thank you until eventually a week or two latter he'd say something like "dude I heard you already had a camera, sorry I'll take it back". He would take it back all right but never replace it with a new gift.
He did that 4 or 5 times in my life.
