Montage

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could spare a little advice...

What's the best way to write a montage in script format? It has to be quite specific and involves a lot of different locations, but I don't want to have to start each shot on a new page (as if it were a new scene in a BBC script) as that seems kind of silly, nor do I want to get into lots of technical terms and camera directions. I'm thinking there must be an industry standard way of detailing montages that I just haven't come across.

Any suggestions?

I'm sure someone will come along and be more specific, but generally I believe it's;

MONTAGE
1. blah blah
2. blah blah de blah
3. blah de blah

etc.

character #1 does something funny

And so on... it may not be correct but it works ok and it's clear.

I write it as:

SERIES OF SHOTS:

1. blah
2. blah blah
3. blah
4. blah blah

More from screenplay formating but fine to use for sitcom scripts too.

This is what BBC Scriptsmart format churns out so it seems pretty much understood. I think the switch from blah to blah blah loses something second time round, though.

That's excellent - thanks guys.

You get such differing reports on how anal the BBC et al are about script formatting - from not caring as long as it is readable to having to have the whole thing formatted precisely or they'll not consider it. Cheers.

I usually write a montage or series of shots like this, including a slugline:

EXT. VARIOUS STREETS - DAY. (SERIES OF SHOTS)

A) blah blah blah

B) blah blah blah

C) blah blah blah
