Depression Page 5

All I know is I had an event that caused me some sadness. Some called it depression and I did on jokes. Others called it processing. All in all you have to take the good with the bad.

I've always thought of 'depression' as being a hell of a lot different to being sad or upset.

I don't think accusing people who've never been depressed as never feeling anything is too clever!

And a little scary, the only person I knew like that was the daughter of the chief Mormon of Dorset who sat next me to in college.

She wouldn't say bottom as it was a curse word.

Don't agree there really. I've never been really sad/upset/depressed for any prolonged period; maybe I'm just generally a positive person, I don't know.

Sometimes I wonder what it'd be like to have the time to be depressed. But usually only when I have 2 minutes free.

The term comes from having to many conflciting emotions, so one depress's them and doesn't deal.

They don't all need to be sad emotions.

Being very busy (i.e stressed) can be another cause of depression. :)

I'm not and have never been depressed, although I went on to the internet forum Yahoo Answers recently to ask for advice about a certain situation in my life only to be bombarded with answers mostly saying "You sound depressed, get help now" etc.

I wonder what situation that could be...

Don't worry, zooo. One day you'll get breast cancer or you'll end up married to an abusive drunk, then you too will feel true depression. :)

Well evidently I'm not too educated on depression then. :)

But in my experience (maybe I've known too many uptight people) if I referred to myself as depressed cos someone dumped me, or I was having a hard time at work, people who have actually suffered from clinical depression could get quite offended.

Huzzah!

I don't see depression as an entirely bad thing, it's jsut part of life.

If you didn't feel depressed when someone dies, how would you ever know you truly loved them?

Most of the writing I enjoy doing, comes from a deep well of anger and bitterness.

I'd sorely miss that if it went away.

I'm going to tickle you until you snort out your nose.

It may be a cliche but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not true.

After all, who owns corner shops?

Trust me, it is.

Tell sooty!

I'm on pills for it, have been for almost a year and now doctor thinks I might be bi-polar.
