Works for me.
Quote: Lee Henman @ December 3 2008, 11:55 AM GMTWell I'm only going off personal experience. The more people I meet in the "industry", the more it seems to me that there's more people with emotional problems in showbiz than there is in "normal" life.
Perhaps in showbiz it's more acceptable to talk about that kind of thing than in normal life? It's a liberal profession, where mental illness isn't frowned upon. Other stratas of society, or professions, might have more hostile attitudes to people with mental health problems.

Depression is a complex area of pyscholigcal health. Covering everything from manic depression, to clinical depression to just feeling blue.
It's also highly personal and this seems a bit of an assinine thread.
Some people feel blue and would benefit from "bucking up," others (including those you might never think), live lives of quite desperation.

Is that a cry for help?

A guy admits to having suffered depression and starts a thread to talk about it and you call him asinine?

No it's a famous quote, my good or bad mental health is not something I'm about to discuss here.

Reread he doesn't, but if Lee did I'm no fan of this modern fixation with endless confession.

Sounds like a confession to me!

You re read it!
And it is quiet not quite if we are talking about things that are there!
Quote: Lee Henman @ December 3 2008, 10:52 AM GMTQuick straw poll - who is suffering or has suffered with depression?
I'm just wondering about my theory that most people in comedy are essentially unhappy.
Mark I'm a bit lost, it's a question not a statement.

Read the whole thread, I didn't say he said he had had depression in the original opening post.
You can talk about depression if you haven't been depressed. And you can take the piss out of depression if you haven't been depressed.
Depression runs in my family. It's a tough and sore subject for me.

You can take the piss if you have been depressed too. Not sure why you would want to mind.
