Depression

Quick straw poll - who is suffering or has suffered with depression?

I'm just wondering about my theory that most people in comedy are essentially unhappy.

I'm not and have never been depressed, although I went on to the internet forum Yahoo Answers recently to ask for advice about a certain situation in my life only to be bombarded with answers mostly saying "You sound depressed, get help now" etc.

I'd respond to this but I'm too preoccupied with sitting in a bath that has long since gone cold, a razor blade clamped between two pruned fingers.

*sticks hand up in the air*

(though I'm not unhappy, but do sometimes suffer from depression, anxiety and pessimism)

I was 2 years ago. I am not now. I travel the world in my cool car and seek out fun, laughter and magellan gin.

Depression isn't even a proper condition. It's just a made up condition so that everyone's got a chance to jump on the victim-bandwagon.

Not me, but my Dad got to take early retirment because of depression, but then he was a Teacher, which must be pretty awful. Hopefully it's not in the genes.

Total balls that I'm afraid. It's a chemical imbalance in the brain and can happen to anyone.

:D Maybe the words "feel'n blue" are proper? Some folks do suffer from depression and I do not see it as a victim bandwagon. Why are you so sensitive to this topic there chipolata? Whistling nnocently

It's easy to just dismiss depression, but I agree with Matthew, it's a proper condition, I know a sufferer of it, he's not a nice person to be around, I get quite annoyed with him as I think to myself he's got a lovely family, just bought a new home and he's still not happy. But it's easy for me to say as I'm not a sufferer and he is, I don't know what he goes through.

Well it is all in one's mind. :)

Yes but it's a physical change in the brain nonetheless.

I don't have it now but I did a few years ago and it's a terrible, debilitating illness. God forbid it returns. :(

It's definitely chemical.

I was joking Lee. If you see my previous post you'll see that I live with it too (plus anxiety). :)
