Well we got the email last thursday and they said to get the script to them asap so we're hoping to get it done this thursday (4th Dec) as they said winners are announced in the new year.

We're quietly confident but loudly bricking it!

SOB! My script didn't make it through.

Mind you.... after I'd submitted it, I found I could improve it and I rewrote it, so I didn't think it would get far.
And the subject matter was a bit iffy too. It dealt controversially with the aftermath of a male rape.
(didn't have anything else completed to submit at the time)

I know they kind of expected a completed script within days.

A lesson learned is like a pound in the pocket.

Ypu dark horse I didn't even know you were entering, good luck.

Thanks, chaps.

Yeah, eat my increasingly long RP shortlist, Welsh boy.

Mikey was your male rape script a comedy or a drama?

It was a two part drama. Kind of dealt with how he coped afterwards. You know, the shame of it all, not being able to tell his wife, etc.

Now shelved for future reference.

Red Planet you're competing with 100s all at the same time, send it as a spec script and compete at your leasure.

It's actually finished. Both parts.
Might need another quick going over to polish it, but it's essentially a complete script.

At the moment, I'm kinda building up a portfolio of completed scripts.

But yes... I suppose I should be speccing it.

What inspired the unusual choice of material?

See that's what worries me, I still haven't got an e-mail saying yay or nay. I'm guessing I didn't get through but if I did the upside is that my script was completed before I even heard about this competition so I don't have to worry about completing it.

*UPDATE* Looks like I didn't mae it through after all. I read on the competition organiser's blog, in a post published last Saturday that all the finalists have been notified and seeing as I haven't, well I put two and two together and then I e-mailed the guy to check and he confirmed that I didn't get through. Oh well, onwards and upwards I guess.

I didn't look back Zu but did they acknowledge receipt of your entry?

What inspired the unusual choice of material?

I think I was watching The Bill once and it had a rape of a girl on it.
I said to my missus "Wonder what it would be like the OTHER way round."
So she said write it.

I always try to find strange subjects to write about. ;)
