Writing scenes set in the 1970s Page 5

We've been out three times though and that was how I asked her out initially.

What, you mean, like what we said the last time this came up?

It wasn't me who brought it up today although I'm always happy to receive helpful input!

If you play your cards right she might too!

Smarmy

I wish!

For those of you that care, and who have taken an interest today, is my best bet just to leave it?

To be honest, she doesn't seem very interested in you. Best just to move on. Otherwise you'll be labelled as 'that creep'. And believe me, that's not a good label.

I'm guessing I must have done something wrong on the third date then! Although at the end of the third date I asked if she wanted to go to the cinema sometime, she said yes. So, either I done something bad on the third date or in the week leading up to me asking her out on a 4th date, I done something bad, or she just changed her mind.

The only thing that really takes three dates to set in is boredom. Being a twat, ugly, etc is a one date deal breaker.....you just bore her :D

Take it from a man who knows about these things...

Forget her now!
Before she worms her way in to your carefree solitude of singleness and sucks you dry (metaphorically!) of any vestige of hope or reason for living.

Bitter?

ME?!!

And it's better you find out now than catch her in the broom cupboard with the water dispenser guy at the Christmas party!

And I'll wager it won't be water he's dispensing.

I wouldn't mind betting that she's meeting blokes when she goes out at the weekend, it's just natural I guess, what annoys me is I know she isn't thinking about me anywhere near as much as I do about her, my feelings for her seemed to cool about a week ago and I was fine, but now they have surfaced again. I'm not sure why!!!!

Maybe something to do with people asking you about her all the time?

This is turning into Mills and Boons for the easily exited.

Unfortunately this thread isn't easily exited.

https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/10327 ... is the proper place for the on-going off-going three date debate for all you budding Rayners. Keep this thread to the more mundane but more relevant writery debate.

Again, it wasn't me that started it all up again! But thanks to all who had an input.

I knifed her this morning. (Joke).

Ironically, I find that girls tend to be far more interested in you when you've already got a girlfriend. I find when I'm in a relationship I seem to get far more interest from women than when I'm single.

And the relevance to writing scenes in the Seventies being?

Gawd, I'm pedantic today. :P

The seventies were all to do with love angst. David Soul and the bottom of that girl from Abba all that sort of thing. So it does fit in.

I wonder what Mike would have done, had his little problem been set, fictionally, in the 1970's. Mmmmm?

That's right, pick on me although everyone else has been discussing none-seventies-writing stuff for two pages or more. Teary
