I agree about the fulsome surroundings, but it was deficient in other ways - for example the choice of beers was limited and the bar closed at 11.30 for some pathetic reason - in fact does anyone know a pub anywhere in London that serves alcohol after midnight, that isn't a 'club'? How many years is it now since Tony Blair extended licensing hours and 'brought in a culture of European-Style drinking'?

But if they serve alcohol after midnight people turn into gremlins... :O

It got a makeover a couple of years back.

And I was just there a few weeks ago!

Just get on to Borough High Street and finding it is pretty easy.

I think you're overestimating some people around here. ;)

I'd like to meet his tailor.

DaButt. I feel your pain. But it's a waste of time making cultural references on here, most of the posters are the sort of people who sat at the back of the class at school, far out of earshot of the teacher.

Some of them - and I'm thinking mainly of Chapman - spent their formative years being beaten with the chain from a penny farthing and working in a match factory.

'Roland the Headless Thomson Gunner' - classic protest folk.

I wasn't drunk. I swear.

You mean you were sober when you gave Bussell that wad of money.

I haven't been for several years :( :$

It was always a bit touristy too

And blowjob.

And blowjob.

You'd want to be pretty drunk to pay up for the pleasure of giving me head.

Indeed, indeed.

Of course the other thing about the Anchor is that with Samuel Johnson and Pepys having been patrons, and quite likely Shakespeare too, it seems quite apt a meeting place for a bunch of writers. Even though the structure itself has been rebuilt a few times.

I gave Bussell money? Damnit!

Can I have Stott's share? He doesn't need it, he never goes out.

All this and blowjobs too!

If it was OK stick with it - just put a rocket up the staff next time. I really hope I can be there, such a long way to come...

I'll put one or two people up if so.

Helloooo, everyone!

I'm back in Stuttgart and the weather is actually worse here than in London. I should've just stayed there. :(

Hellooo, Finck. Aww - you should have stayed, it's beautiful here this morning afternoon. :)
