The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul is (in my opinion) Douglas Adams' best book. If you're enjoying the radio show, the book might appeal also.

Your the first person I've ever seen to say that The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul is Douglas' best book. The general opinion is that this one was inferior to the first Dirk Gently novel. I personally though Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency was the better book whereas The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul was ok, but seemed rushed out and somewhat less clever than the first.
I read somewhere that Douglas was paid something like $2million to pump out a follow up his first Dirk Gently story.
I do like The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul though and I will be buying the CDs of the recent radio version.
