Ooh, Ahh, Just A Little Bit

Come now Matthew, it's no longer 1996.

Ah, 1996. Britpop. Chris Evans on the Breakfast show. And England doing quite well in Euro 96 but eventually getting knocked out by Germany on penalties.

Damn sausage-munchers!

Damn sausage-munchers!

Ironically, I had a very tasty Frankfurter with cheese at the weekend.

Was that in Soho?

Birmingham. They've got a Frankfurt Christmas Market in the main square. It was actually quite nice and festive, even though I normally hate the festive season.

Those dirty, dirty bastards.

I was in London yesterday and noticed they've put a bloody Christmas market on the South Bank. They can f**k right off with that as soon as they like.

Outside the Tate Modern?

I used to live in Birmingham until recently, they have that market every year; it does make you feel festive.

I hate the South Bank! Nice views yes, but otherwise totally overrated, desolate, ugly and generally quite shit.

Especially NFT/RFH/QEH etc. Where are al-Qaeda when you need them?

I just like the general feeling of open space as you walk around the area, which is rare for London.

Indeed. If you like open spaces get out of the city.

Agreed the exteriors of NFT/RFH/QEH are a bit depressing - I'm with Prince Charles on the "monstrous carbuncle" thing - but as what generally goes on inside them is completely fantastic I tend to overlook it. I just like the general feeling of open space as you walk around the area, which is rare for London. And is now f**ked totally by this Christmas In Toytown shit.

Ah, I like the crowded feeling of London. Piccadilly Circus may be my single favourite place in the world. If I want open space, I've got Greenwich Park just down the road here, or Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens a short Tube ride away.

I'll agree on zavvi. Can't quite believe that the old store is still vacant.

Also Piccadilly Circus is a short stroll from Piccadilly Waterstones.

Isn't the clue in them both having Piccadilly in their names? ;)

I loved Tower Records. The Slaggs always stop at Piccadilly Zavvi when we go to town but it isn't the same.

Totally randomly, there used to be a Tower Records on HSK, and that too is now zavvi.

And the Tower Express which was in Windsor is now a HMV.
