I've just been paid off, so I've lost my company car and am now going to interview in my wives purple old style Nissan Micra. I must look a right tosser.

I am unsure of what "paid off" means?

Yes, but I live in England, sir, where the public transport is plentiful and superb. If I lived in the desert of the USA, then, yes, I would probably have to swallow it and drive. So there.
