Snowing? Is it early for that?

Global warming strikes again. Except this time of year they like to call it "climate change."

Just grilled a couple perfectly medium-rare ribeye steaks. Throw in a nice baked potato, some sugar snap peas and a pint of Guinness and I'm in heaven.

You have an anaphylactic allergy to that food combo?

Actually jsut got back from a Samuel Smith pub which served super ace stout.

Guiness is better at propaganda than Hitler.

No, only to peanuts. ;)

DaButt faces northeast and raises his hand in a stiff salute to the boys in Dublin ...
Geek

It's just in the US you have better native stouts than Guiness.

True, but it's a faithful standby. I almost bought some of this today, but it was almost $4 per bottle. My dented can of Guinness was 79 cents. ;)

I think RIS was brewed superstrong as part of an attempt to poison Peter the Great, it's usually about 12%

That's another thing I like about Guinness: it's low in alcohol and, therefore, calories. I like to enjoy my beer for hours, not fall over after 20 minutes. :S

The first time I was in a UK pub I was surprised to see alcohol percentages posted for all the beers. I guess people want the most bang for their buck?

Until recently alcohol percentages for beers weren't allowed to be listed or advertised. Not sure if the laws have changed or it's a state-by-state thing, but a lot of the microbrews now have the percentage listed on the label. I still haven't seen much of it at the bars/pubs, however. Usually it's only the brewpubs who post any info at all about their beers. The new one in town opens next Friday. Yay!

More a case of being able to pace yourself.

It's more to prevent pubs diluting beers.

Used to be Carlsberg etc brewed special weak versions cos we Brits were beer crazy.

That said it's pretty risky to not know how strong your beer is.

Some states only allow 3.2% beer to be sold in grocery/convenience stores. How stupid.

Trying one of these now. It's a Texas beer that I've never tasted before. It's ok; sort of reminds me of Cooper's Sparkling Ale.

Looks good, for what that's worth.

I loved Prague, 2 or 3 beers on tap only.

But all killer brews.
