Just heard one of our long-running projects has moved forward significantly in the last few days. After 18 months, I'd began writing-off that project. Although we've reached the stage where they're fine with us talking about it and the names involved, I don't really want to get specific in case I a) jinx it and b) get even more egg on me face. Only SlagB and I know. Not even our family and his 'non-virtual' friends know (I have no non-virtuals 
) because I've been in this position before with past and present projects.
In the end good news, oddly, begins to sound like postponed bad news. I'll only believe it when I see me (pen) name up on the screen. And even then I'll doubt it.

Sorry, feel like such a c**t posting the original thread, knowing that I was going to disappear for a few days to do "real life" work. Cheers for the "hurrahs" and hurrahs for those sounding cautious congratulations. Yes, it's not definite yet, but when the money and legal issues are being agreed, then to me that's (especially in this economic climate) when one can become optimistic. The fact that my script fee has been agreed is especially welcome! Most importantly the new pilot draft has enthused my readers.
Hope my talent outlasts/outweighs my good luck! And I recognise I have been pretty lucky overall.
