I'm going to agree mostly with 2 and 3. To me, a geek is someone who knows too much in a particular field, normally regarding computers and/or science in some way. See The Big Bang Theory and The IT Crowd.

Anyone else?

I don't know now.
I'm getting all confused.

A geek is someone most folks work for someday!!!

Does that mean I'm going to be World King? :O

Aw, zooo's got a pretty post count.

My personal definition.

1. Geek doesn't interact well socially.
2. Geek has too much knowledge of a field - because they spend their time learning instead of socialising.
3. Geek does not care about fashion or looking good.

Ok, I'm definitely a geek.

(Although #3 does almost worry me on occasion, but I've long since learnt that it's futiile to try.)

Are you wearing your tank top next week Aaron?

And gramatically surely that is incorrect. It should be "on occasions" or "occasionally."

I would say on occasion or occasionally.

grammatically*

And no, I don't have one. That's more nerd-y.

They almost always wear glasses and LOOK 'geeky'.

Can't think of any examples right now.. Whistling nnocently

I think I'd modify those slightly because:

1) Geeks interact fine with other geeks.
2) It's knowledge of a field the majority finds unappealing - knowing a lot about Star Trek and dressing as Captain Kirk is geeky; knowing a lot about football and dressing as David Beckham isn't.
3) Yeah, you're probably right on that one.

That's intriguingly close to a diagnosis of autism.

I'd say anyone who spent 2 hours creating and sorting a household chore list for himself in Excel and then put all the information in Google Calendar was a geek. But of course I don't know anyone who has done such a thing. Whistling nnocently

Weirdly I have all the obsessiveness and lousy social skills of geekdom, but no organisational skills.

You can be geeky about things that aren't usually considered to be geeky, e.g. I'm a bit geeky about music and sport, oh, and of course, comedy.
