Worst standup? Page 3

Never seen him since - hope he didn't kill himself...

I saw someone, who I'd seen rehearse and was very funny with a good routine, forget their lines and die on stage and leave very despondent. But I'm pleased to see they did get back on the horse and do some more gigs.

Hence why gong nights rock...

Had one guy who talked to me after his set he was all, "I don't get it my mates liked it". I was very tempted to tell him you should have invited me friends then, but he was bigger than me.

Yeah, I wouldn't go on what your friends thought.

Without a doubt, the worst stand up I've seen was Eddie Izzard.

Oh God, he is baaaaaaaaad.

As I've mentioned before, it was back in about '96, and I left during the interval. Coincidentally, I did just watch a more recent show of his, earlier tonight, on channel 4, which was much better.

My least-favorite comedian is that cranky, melon-smashing Gallagher guy. He used to live in my hometown and he was a real sourpuss.

You knew Gallagher?

You should have stamped on his groceries and laughed.

Hence why gong nights rock...

I was at gong show a few months ago - biggest laugh of the night was this scruffy chav who got up.

MC:
Okay, 3,2,1, Beat The Gong!

CHAV:
Right there was this paki...

GONG!!!!

He was gutted. Very, very funny.

I already want to hear the rest of the joke.

Hmm, I've never really got Izzard to be truthful. I mean I really like his bumbling delivery and he LOOKS like he's really funny but the actual words coming out of his mouth never really make me laugh that much. But my missus adores him so, you know. *shrugs*

Maybe he was going to say "So there was this packet of crisps..."

Hmm, that's interesting actually. We should do a poll and see if there's an Izzard-split by gender. (How appropriate.)

Slightly less comic potential there, but it's possible.

I'd lay a bet he has more female fans than male. I have nothing to base that on but I'm guessing that'll be the case.

My girlfriend loves him. I don't.

Probably because he has that Noel Fielding non-threatening quality.

Ditto. The only people I know and can think of who are fans of his are women.

Izzard has never really peeked my interest and in the land called America there is this standup named Larry the Cable Guy and he irritates me most times. While many folks just love him.

I really like Izzard. His caveman routine at the end of the SPB was by far the best thing on there.
