Great News I Am Unable To Discuss... Page 2

Would this be one of the things you're working with Tim on then Seefacts?

I wish!

No, sadly I'm left behind in this case.

Hi guys, having been getting back into therapy (seriously) over the last few weeks, after an erratic period, I hope everyone is well.

So, had my first meeting a few weeks ago with -------- ------ at Channel - and having done the 3rd draft we are now on our way to getting towards developing the pilot, to be broadcast in next season's Comedy -------- series. One of my producers is ---- ----, which is great, as --- has produced the films ----- -- --- ---- and --- ----. (I think that's enough of that.)

My point is, that I imagine there are a number of writers on here who would love to make specific/boastful/encouraging points about how a newbie can make progress, yet as soon as you get somewhere, inevitably you have to become more circumspect and secretive. (I was completely a newbie, and in some respects still am, only a year or so ago.)

I am now physically terrified of f**king-up deals by talking about any success, because a) I'm a pussy, b) Legally, things actually (I'm not joking) become an issue and c) I'm a pussy.

What I'm trying to say is that I now understand why any writer (on here) who is getting somewhere might be less-than-verbose. And to all new writers, good luck. Just remember, there are some really good writers on here (myself? Meh!) and it's a pretty good place to start.

Anyone else with some success wish sometimes they could discuss it further? Or do they (admirably) have far more self-constraint than I?

Tim, firstly congrats on your success.

Secondly, don't get too excited mate. It could all go tits up and the pilot might never be made. I've just had a similar experience with _ _ _ . (You've got me at it now) It was all "This is great, it's exactly the script we've been looking for, it ticks all the boxes etc." Meetings were had, rewrites done, even casting thoughts were talked about. And then it was dropped.

So like I say, don't believe ANYTHING until you're actually filming. I hope you go all the way obviously, but it really is best to expect disappointment, because at any point, right up to the first day of filming it can all go "poof". (Not in a gay way)

Woah, woah - are you saying writing is totally unstable and on the whole people and projects are unreliable and nothing ever goes as it should?!

You seem liked a very clued up guy with regards to this industry Seefacts, I would have thought you would already have realised what an unsta-

Oh. Wait. I see what you did there. ;)

That's a shame -- but did you get paid?

No I'm saying that's ALWAYS what happens, not just on the whole.

Do you know, I didn't. Funny that. (although I didn't have an agent then)

That's a shame... for both of you

I've just realised I may be sounding like a harbinger of doom, or to use the correct phrase a "pessimistic twat". Sorry if that's how it sounds. Of course it's possible to get things made, it's just jolly difficult - especially for writers without a proven track record.

But yes, it can be done. Otherwise it'd be pointless trying. :)

No, no I know what you mean. Though I've just burnt everything bit of writing I've got, and thrown away all my pens. And cut off my hands.

How did you cut off your last hand?

How did you cut off your last hand?

With my feet.

With my feet.

Those are some sharp toenails, sir.

Good with it all! I'm still a newbie so haven't had any success yet.

I finally spoke to Tim about this.

I have a sneaking suspicion he was masturbating whilst he spoke.
