British Comedy Guide

Please help identify this comedy!

Hi
Can anone shed some light on a comedy show I watched when I was young. It was on television possibly from the late eighties to mid nineties.

All I can really remember are the following sketches:

Some kind of glam rock band (possibly in the future)

A character that lived on a council estate who believed he was a mafia 'godfather' type

1930's women criminals

An advert for a 100 part BBC drama called 'The Tree'.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, its been bugging me for years!!!!

The advert for 'The Tree' is ringing a bell but I have no idea what it was called.

Big Train or something? Smack the Pony?
I don't recognise any of those actual sketches though.

It was The Glam Metal Detectives: I know this for a fact because I have it on DVD and watched it not that long ago.

The band were the Glam Metal Detectives: a heavy metal band who solve crimes when not on stage. The mafia godfather impersonator was Colin Corleone complete with two henchmen (one played by Phil Cornwell). The 30's sketch was called Betty's Mad Dash, which was a complete parody of escape movies of that time. I can't really remember the last part, so a rewatch might be in order.

It's a good show, not outstanding, but still good. I personally enjoyed the Colin Corleone skits the most.

Glam Metal Detectives sprung straight to my mind too.
