Like I say, only go for the joke if you've got a f**king amazing one. Don't do it just for the sake of it, or to be 'cutting edge'. (which it isn't anyway.)
The ultimate taboo? Page 2

Any one going to take bets on whether NR covers this subject?
Quote: Moonstone @ November 18 2008, 11:54 PM GMTI don't really understand your position. I thought you sounded against it.
I did?

Quote: zooo @ November 18 2008, 11:47 PM GMTI don't think everyone should try and use a dead toddler to make a joke.
I meant, I don't think everyone should rush off to try and think up a joke.
I think that only a very few people could pull it off. And that it should be left to them.
Like I said before Zoo makes a good point.
Does the diference between a real and fictional baby change the essential nature of the joke?
I watched Panorama yesterday, all those interviews in carpark.
What was that All the President's men?

Ahhhh, I see! Mind you, Frankie Boyle's had some groans for making jokes about lesser things. It would have to be BLOODY good!

I really think it does. Rightly or wrongly.
I'm c**tagous, you may find your grammear detereoating slowly over the next week.
Soon it'll be to bad for even the Guardian.

You've been reading different posts to those which I have.
Quote: Griff @ November 18 2008, 11:58 PM GMTWhich would you find more hurtful - a joke about "people with cancer" or someone joking specifically about your Mum dying from cancer?
If it was a joke and not a directed insult.
Then in the greater scheme of things neither.

That's it. People only ever get offended by things that somehow affect themselves (well, I think most anyway).

No, I misunderstood, made that clear, and was put straight. *shrugs*

All this goes without saying.
Of COURSE no one goes up to the mother of, oh wait, she killed him, the... other relatives of Baby P and makes a joke about it. Doesn't mean we can't make jokes to each other about it.
No one tells (one would imagine) Princess Di jokes to Prince Harry but we have ALL laughed at them on Have I Got News For You.

Nothing wrong with that!
You're one of them nice people, so I would expect you to feel that way, really.

But I didn't consider there to be room for misinterpretation.

Oh I don't think he would do it on TV.
But if I heard it live, and it was good, I would laugh.
I'd probably feel guilty about it, but that's expected with that kind of joke.

Thanks! I think? I dunno
