So Griff why have you never had the ole bamboo spoon treatment?

Wahaca is no Wagama rip off it's fan bleeding tastic.
It's the Observer's economy restaurant of the year and deservedly so.
I like a nice carvery. There is a pub in Lympstone, Devon which makes the most AMAZING one and at christmas is so beautiful. You have a massive plate with you fill with your choice of roast meat, the most amazing roast potatoes, loads of vegs and proper gravy and you can eat it at a table near a proper fireplace and in the summer, a gorgeous garden. My best ever meal was there.
Worse meal was BLUGER king.
There's a couple of decent carveries in London.
I love stacking roast meats like poker cards.
But Wahacca is fab and it has the best Guacamole ever.
Quote: Griff @ November 18 2008, 12:50 AM GMTHmmm Wahaca struck me as a Wagamama clone with Mexican food instead of Japanese.
It was perfectly OK although it didn't knock my socks off or anything.Liking the sound of the carvery.
Wagamamas is just a big Californian chain like the woeful Benehanas.
But Wahaca is one of a kind, set up by a top Mexican chef from Mexico and everything.
When I lived in Smethwick there was a pub that did; pie and chips £1 and half a chicken and chips with peas £2.
They were equally poor but I was dead poor and very grateful.

It's a Mexican place? I already dislike it because they mangled the spelling of Oaxaca.
It's in London give 'em a break, we'd all be looking for
Oat-ex-caca, which sounds like a husk based laxative.
Quote: Griff @ November 18 2008, 12:59 AM GMTOoh that reminds me, I went to a greasy spoon once in either Hanwell or Ealing, I can't remember, and ordered chicken and chips or something like that. When my food arrived, it was served on a dirty plate with the remains of half a fried egg stuck to the plate from the previous customer.
That'd be Hanwell.
There's a great Preuvian restaurant at London Bridge.

I am going to have to check this out, particularly since it is practically next door to The Harp.
It's surprisingly good and not as naff as most UK Mexican restaurants.
That said there used to be an ace chain of all you can eat Mexican buffets.
I have a horrible suspicion I destroyed them.

I ate at Ted's (as in CNN/television mogul Ted Turner) Montana Grill outside of Philadelphia. Lots of bison on the menu and the food was great. The restaurant tries very hard to be green and advertises itself as 99% plastic-free. http://www.tedsmontanagrill.com/
This place has great Cajun food if you're ever in the Tampa/St. Pete area: http://www.cajuncafeonthebayou.com/
Had some nice German food and beer at this place last week: http://www.ottosbrauhauspa.com/
I ate a bowl of rigatoni as big as my sink at this place last week. It was one of the only American restaurants I've ever seen that had Hoegaarden on tap. http://www.baccobacco.com/restaurant/home.php
No Taco bell's a take away, these were jsut like Chinese buffet restaurants only Mexican.
Really nice and stupidly cheap.

Top trick: Pop a roast potato in each yorkshire pudding!
Carveries kick ass!
Taco Bell and Wendy's were both driven out by Ronald McDonald.
Damn I used to like Wendy's/
Taco bell is still in the US!
They are owned by the same company as KFC and Pizza hut.

Are yours one trip carveries?
That's like comparing 5 star to the Jackson 5.
