Gordon Brown you are so dumb
Must fall down, hard in the long run
Can't seem to sight
The red warning light
Start the count down for Gordon Brown

Inflation is rising fast
In control? No! what an ass
To distant lands
To fight Taliban
Start the count down for Gordon Brown

Gordon Brown Oh what a mess
Our eco-nomy's heading West
What can I say
Soon comes the day
Start the count down for Gordon Brown

Not bad at all, some slightly forced rhymes.

Unfortunately it's been done more times than Madge's vag.

Come on Sooty, it's all about timing, it fits like the glass slipper on Cinderella and some things are always worth doing again. Just like Madge's vag i guess.

Problem with this is I'm sure this song will have been used hundreds of times - I mean, when thinking for obvious titles to parody Brown, this must top the list. Decent lyrics, but I'd say nothing that would say "listen to this over the others."

Just my opinion, mind

Yeah, I agree that some songs are oft done because they work and can be made to fit any news story on a subject, and can be funny and great - but somehow this feels TOO used - google it for a start

Did you just say Madge's vag fits like the glass slipper on Cinderella? :O

It's not a bad song, not briliant. But originality is something to watch out for.

Sorry, Summer, but as Sootyj says, it's an utter cliche of a joke. So much so that The League of Gentlemen sent up shitty sketch troupes trotting the 'Golden/Gordon Brown' song in their third series. It doesn't matter how clever your rhymes are, it's just an exhausted idea.

I'm not a huge fan of song parodies myself, even when they're done really well by someone like Mitch Benn. But if you're going to do them you have to make sure they're funny, and there really aren't any funny bits in this. Sorry.

I tend to agree about song parodies, but there is a demand...

It is not an inviolable rule that song parodies need to be funny to work, bleak can also be effective, as in Spitting Image's Every Bomb You Drop http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=A18K7OM7tWA

Taking up Griff's point about Mitch Benn, I always enjoyed Neil Innes' pastiches, The Rutles in particular verged on genius.

Yes. It was for 'Whatever'.

A weak political parody, predictable and no jokes whatsoever. Would be perfect for Bremner, Bird and Fortune.
