Instead of killing shows like Coming of Age, couldn't you just leave the language out?

Great idea. Leaving out the dialogue would greatly improve the show IMHO.

You know if the word f**k gets used often enough it'll lose it's meaning and be replaced by something new.

Viz once tried to get a new swear word circulating and failed. It was "fitbin". Not surprised it failed really, it's rubbish.
Now "jizzlemop", there's a cracker. Oh and "f**ktrumpets" is a great one for when you've forgotten something. eg:

Did you get some milk while you were out?
ME:
Oh f**ktrumpets, sorry I forgot.

Well, Jew isn't a swear word. Being offensive to Jews is obviously bad, saying a jew is a jew isn't. Was my point. It stood out on the list because all the others seemed like swear words.

My Gran used to use Jew in the sense of "rob". Like "I'm sure the window cleaner Jewed me out of some change there."
Why are Grans so racist? My son had a bit of a tan from sitting out in the sun a few months ago and my wife's gran came over and said "Oooo he looks like a little coon!"
After we'd picked our jaws up off the floor we then had to explain to a six year old that Coon is a bad word for a black person. To which he then said "So is Mrs Sheldrick a coon then Daddy?" Mrs Sheldrick is a teacher at his school.

Bugger is an odd one, as it has many meanings. Certainly it was used originally to describe being pestered by insects.
There's a big diference between words that insult every one and those that are targetted.
e.g. f**k, every one f**ks exept the pope and really ugly people.
Bitch, queer, Jew, nigger etc are aimed at a specific group.
Doesn't mean they should be banned. As Lenny Bruce said use them till they're meaningless.
But it should atleast be understood why they're seen as more offensive.

Jews, generally. Calling a Jew a Jew can't be all that offensive in itself, can it?! Unless you say f**king jew, dirty Jew, or suchlike. I would have thought it's the context rather than the word, where as nigger is obviously a term of insult in its own right.
As a Jew I don't mind being called a Jew, albeit I do prefer Sootyj.
But when it's used in "He Jewed me," or "He so mean he's a total Jew,"
then it's used as an insult.
