Aye, it is indeed rather tempting. I'm having to force myself to stay away from DVDs right now though.
That's a good price for what you get. I have the films, and want the TV series, but Python fans are murmuring that the series should be backed up by extras, and speculating on what might happen for the 40th anniversary in 2009. The vanilla discs of the series are a bit cheaper now as well, so I don't know if it's worth getting them, or waiting. I have a feeling that the Python team are going to be a bit miserly in coming up with extras.
I dunno. It depends on how bothered you are about extras. The original version of this box set, IIRC, had a t-shirt and blow-up parrot doll thing. It's possible that there'll be something issued with a few more thrills, but I'm not sure I'd make a bet either way.
A t-shirt and a parrot!
From what I read elsewhere, there's a lot of stuff that could be released. Some of the released episodes are censored, and some scenes have been truncated, these could be restored. For a series of this importance I would really like someone to make the effort.

The reason being . . . ? (it's distracting you from work?) (it's keeping you from real rather than filmic life?)
This is real life.
Nah, I just can't really afford it right now.
That's a great price, but I was so disappointed with the complete series DVDs. I couldn't believe how terrible 90% of Pythons material is. The other 10% is absolute classic comedy genius though.
In my view, it would be best to buy a Best of DVD along with Holy Grail and Life of Brian.
Bought it all from the States a few years back...my pride and joy
Monty Python have just launched an official YouTube channel... http://www.youtube.com/montypython
Thats another DVD to add to my list for Santa, it's a good thing I've been a good boy this year.

*Put's on Christmas List*
That looks great!
Just bought the complete box set. (Although I don't think it's the 'Everything Ever In One Gloriously Fabulous Ludicrously Definitive Outrageously Luxurious Monty Python Boxset'. Mine was released in 2008.)
Seen bits and bobs before and have read some scripts but first time I've sat down and watched episodes.
Really enjoying it! Think Terry Gilliam's animations are my fav and have dated really well (by that I mean, of course, that I think they haven't dated).
If anyone is interested - Monty Python Not the Messiah (He's a very naughty boy)which filmed at its only European performance at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2009 is going to be shown in cinemas across Europe for one night on the 25th of March 2010. Might be too late to get tickets - but worth a look!!
