I think Brand and Ross were very rude to Mr Sachs. I also think a journalist breaking the same facts to him would be rude. It must be a very unpleasant situation for him.
However there are many things people do that we may not want our nearest and dearest to have knowledge of. So you either don't so them, do them very privately or face the consequences of your family members finding out.
Some people may find her photograph of her slitting another girl's throat offensive. Her grandfather may also.

To be fair to her, she's suddenly been thrust into the limelight with a hundred or so journalists bombarding her with questions. You can say stuff without thinking it through, or have your words taken out of context. Remember the episode of Extras where Andy Millman gets the Downs Syndrome kid thrown out of the restuarant, and the whole media feeding frenzy that followed? This is a bit like that.

I can't tell if she's a mongoloid or not without first seeing her from behind.

I just saw her on telly. She was calling for their jobs very calmly in a proper interview, she didn't say it by mistake.
On the other hand Sachs says he wants to move on and that he's had very nice letters of apology from both Russell and Ross.
So now I think the BBC look stupid having blown their load and postponed the Buzzcocks episode, and Film 2008, etc.
