Got Snow? Page 3

No snow in Germany. :(

Hmmm I never thought of that. I would like to know that too. I'm guessing like Aaron said, it has to do with air streams.

Not AIR streams, water streams in the Atlantic.

And of course the water goes past the UK while it is still warm, then gets cold in the artic & returns south along the American coast, so they get the COLD part of the gulf stream.

New York's snows aren't a big deal. Places like Minnesota and North Dakota are still south of England but they have absolutely brutal winters. And the Great Lakes region gets foot after foot of lake effect snow.

Today's high was only 25C and the people here in town were complaining about the chilly weather. I even smelled a few fireplaces in the morning.

Growing up in Britain, you learn from an early age, that Mother Nature is nothing but a TEASING BITCH, when it comes to snow. First, she raises your hopes, by lightly dusting our roads with crisp, fresh snow, then, just as your imaginination is filled with visions of snowmen and sledges, she turns the clouds grey, and washes it all away with her rain!

I left North London just before it began to snow.

I went to sleep here and then it began to snow.

Stupid f**king snow.

Teary

The last time I remember severe snow in the UK was in winter 2003.

I remember looking out the window and not being able to see further than 5 metres. That was fun.

Where I live (King's Lynn), it's rare we get REALLY bad snow. It's something to do with us being tucked in near the coast.

I experienced heavy snow in Sheffield once. It was insane.

I'm from the Lake District area, when it snowed up there, half the school kids couldn't get to school because they were snowed in; so at least a few time a year i'd get the day off. For that reason alone snow must be a good thing.

I remember when it was snowing in South England for two hours on the morning of my birthday 2007. All the airports had to close. :)

Christ alive. They actually are mental.

Still no snow here. In fact, very sunny. So sunny that one of my neighbours is mowing the lawn. Teary

We had really thick frost this morning, and I'm going to pretend it was snow. :)

I am unlikely to get proper snow because I am too near the coast. It was frosty as hell this morning though and I saw two people slip on black ice on my way to work.

I do hope you sniggered. People slipping on ice is always funny.

black ice .

Racialist.

I didn't as I'm usually the one sliding down the road on my bum. :D

Racialist.

Multi-cultural ice doesn't sound right.

It's 4C at 7:30 in the morning and even I was cold. It's almost as cold in south Florida as well. Big cold front dropping down from Canada. Thanks, Curt. Angry

I attended Army basic training in the winter and the drill sergeants like to hose down the sidewall in front of the barracks doors and then start screaming for everyone to form up outside at 4 in the morning. We'd go sliding and tumbling down the icy hill and they'll all have a laugh as we tried, turtle-like, to get back on our feet while wearing 60-pound rucksacks on our backs.

4 is quite chilly. That's acceptable to be cold at.
