Maybe. They said they were talking to the BBC, but the beeb wanted a lot of changes if they were to get another series. Changes that included making it much less dark. It didn't sound particularly hopeful from their point of view.

sort of like asking the mighty boosh to make their show less surreal.

Capitals, Nick. Unimpressed

Except the Mighty Boosh have a stronger fanbase and better viewing figures, so they're in a much stronger position to keep their vision intact.

I actually had a conversation with Matt Berry about this a year or so ago in a pub. (I don't know him, I met him by chance). He said that in particular the hanging didn't go down too well with the BBC and that they were talking to Channel 5 about it (him and Rich), but that was a while ago, as I say.

I also (criminally) forgot to buy him a whiskey.

Ah yes. They should tell the BBC to piss off, if that's the case and go to another channel. (But not one of the shit ones I don't have, naturally.)

As fun as it is to tell people to piss off, are they in a position to do it? They've had their greatest successes supporting other people and I've yet to see them in anything which makes me think they can cut it on their own. In some respects, they're like Les from Vic Reeves Big Night Out. ;)

Ah, lovely Les.

Well yes, only swear at BBC if have other channel waiting in wings.
Goes without saying. :)

Ah, lovely Les.

Has anybody read the book Les wrote about how Vic and Bob were beastly to him during the making of Big Night Out?

Nooooooooooo.

Hmm, do you mean like an amusing book written in character about chives and spirit levels?
Or an actual book written by.... whoever the hell played Les?
:)

The latter. I seem to remember it was a bit of a bitchy whine about how poorly they treated him.

Well, he was only ever anyhting because of them; I don't think him going nowhere is a great loss to comedy.

:O You obviously didn't see 1993's Les Lives, a series of five minute shows featuring Les.

Although ironically, Vic and Bob have ultimately followed Les to nowhere. What are they doing now that's any great shakes?

Vic does ... random stuff. Bob created, writes, and directs, Tittybangbang. Yeah...
