Beautiful animation Gav. What software did you use to animate it?

And the voice of Charley too, and the words of Dave Chapman! It's all our BSG dreams come at once.

Sorry - none of my words here but I think a couple of visual suggestions though.

Thanks all :)

Lee I agree about the script whilst it worked really well on paper, once it moved it kinda lost alot in translation minly due to my limited animation skills but the next one on the cards is gonna be rocking :)

As far as I'm concerneed the animation is really good. Keep it up Gavin.

Ta Dave :) the next one plans are in the post :)

Nice looking animation. It's let down though by lacklustre voice acting. I've done a bit of cartoon voiceover stuff myself and you really have to project your character to make it work.

I mean for a first shot it's f**king brilliant but a cartoon is only as good as the voices. So I think if you're looking to market this for tv you really need to up your game a little and ramp up your performances for the next one, or try and get some experienced voice people to help you out.

But potentially Meet The Newmans could be great.

I'd agree with that; there's potential but the voice work lets it down at the moment.

Hi Lee and Matthew.

Fair comment guys :) we will try to up the game voice over wise. Learnt alot doing this so hopefully next one will be even better :)

Well you can only improve the more you do it, obviously; none of you are experienced voice artists so it's just a case of growing into it; then things will really be cooking.

That was... pretty f**king awesome! :D

Thank you Chickenoriental :)

It's good, you just need to let rip more when you do the voicing. Have a listen to Lizzie Roper on this link, she's a f**king awesome vo artist and does shedloads of cartoons etc. Also have a click around the site to pick up some tips. You have to get the voices right for your toon to work, it's actually more important than the animation. Some may disagree, but they're wrong.

Cheers Mate I'll check that out :)

The voices are one of the most important parts I agree with you, look at south part the animation takes a back seat to the vo in that. :)

Gav the animation is awesome.

As far as the voices go I can see where some people are coming from. However The Newmans are not yellow looking humans or little round ball people (Southpark). They look like proper humans so I think it sounds better if they speak like them. Maybe Lance could have a edgy voice. I have been watching Family Guy for the past few weeks & I love the voice of the baby. It really suits his character.
At the moment I do not see the point of paying someone to do voice over work.
I think the whole thing is just brill. Not because I am a small part of it but because I do.
My 18 year old son laughed at it & thought it was cool. That was before he even knew who had been involved & before he even recognised his own mothers voice. He just said "Oh yea....I thought she sounded familiar!!!!

Gav should take full credit for this one. He wrote the sketch himself too.

Well bloody done Gav.

Yep, big up Gav indeed.

But as to your point about paying pro VO artists - you don't need to do that. Just inject a bit more feeling into your own performances first and see how it goes - and most importantly, seek other opinion. For what it's worth, my opinion at the moment is that it doesn't sound like real people, rather it sounds a bit amateurish, and that alone will put off any commissioner, despite the loveliness of the animation itself.

Basically you have to TRUTHFULLY ask yourself the question "Would I watch this if it was on the telly?"

I think "Meet The Newmans", as a basic concept, has the potential to be a British Simpsons. A UK dysfunctional animated family hasn't been done yet, so I say go for it. But make it the best it can possibly be before showing it to potential buyers.

Gav now has to do the decorating one. Come on Gav. Get to work you lazy bugger!!! :)

Absolutely! Ditto Charley's comments above. Go Gav! *Applause and wolf whistles*

Loved it, it's totally brilliant!

Meet the Newmans is a real labour of love for Gav and he's tirelessly developed it over many years.

It's great fun and soooo enjoyable being part of the writing team with Gav, Charley and Dave. I was a later addition and we all met on BSG.
