Cheers, Steve.

Yeah you want to scale it up to more extravagant inventions so there's less chance that they'd come up with the same thing.
Also, Doc Samson is a character from the Incredible Hulk
Great idea

Is he really? Co-incidence? Homage? Downright theft? You decide!
I'd say it was an oblivious bumble

6'6"? Well isn't he a strapping lad?
And quite clever to boot!

The other day someone posted a sketch with a Barry Allen in it. (Barry Allen was the alter-ego of DC's Flash, at one point.)
I blame the growing popularity of comic movies.
Doc Sampson was a character invented by L Sprage de Camp and was a golden age of technology version of Tarzan.
He was superstrong, bullet proof, 7 foot tall and covered in bronze.
He'd be pretty cool as an inventor.
Are you thinking of Doc Savage, played by Ex-Tarzan Ron Ely in the movie?
It took me a couple of seconds and then the light bulb went on...then, some git turned it off and I fell over a chair.
Really good idea and well written as always, David.
Mightily impressive.
A nice idea, but I didn't really see anything funny in it.
I think the others are right that the various inventions need to escalate quite insanely.
Also, Dr Samson's lines such as:
"Registered a fortnight ago."
Could probably be funnier. They seem a little flat at the moment.
So many time-travel twists have already been done that you need to be really inventive to come up with a new twist & regrettably thoush this one is OK, it doesn't have that flash of brilliance.
One slightly better twist might be for Dr Jenkins to show a new one, then Dr Sampson says "Damn, excuse me a moment", then he goes out & comes back with a flip chart showing his new Patent, the camera goes back to Dr Jenkins chart & we see it fade to blank.
Even that is a bit old hat but...
