Reasons to dislike people. Page 4

We did have one vile kid who was a bully, so we collapsed his tent on him.

Then with all of his victims helping, we gave him the bumps in his tent.

He then popped his head out and cried

"Ya basta'ds I've pissed me sleeping bag,"

Congratulations sooty, you have just managed to go even further down in my estimation.

Delighted.

:)

I have to add he was 17 and a vile fag pinching, booze swilling, bruise inducing bully of the worst order.

I used to love pracitcal jokes, almost sorry I grew out of them.

I worked on a homeless project, where we had a bunch of workers from the states for a year. Almost all of whom had never done this sorta work.

So we'd leave person alone in a project, and get one of the clients (a very scary looking fella with few, many tatoos and the air of Peter Sutcliffe) to pop by.

Then we'd phone her up and say he'd escaped from prison and the police were on the way. Just don't make him angy.

I should point out the guy was in on the act.

No one ever called the police oddly enough.

Did Sutcliffe have an air? I always thought he was quite innocuous looking, sort of Geography teacher-esque.

I always used to mistake him for Stuart Sutcliffe.

The 5th Beatle?

Seefacts = Sutcliffe.

Just thought I'd beat anyone to it.

You're a serial killer and a sitcom writer?

I donm't which is more shameful.

After Schoo- No, no, nevermind.

How about if the people who define other people by their race or sexuality also promise stop it?

Except what's wrong with pride?

Especially if in your lifetime you've only been allowed to take any pride for a few decades?

I think pride may have been the word you're looking for.

I'll stop bating you if you stop bating me, eh? Nice idea but it won't work. Not human nature. There will always be twats.

So you think pride is OK?

Well, yes it is, but it's very dangerous and I think it needs to be kept in it's place.

Pride in country of birth, race, the religion you were born into, your sexuality, etc. is totally misplaced in my view.

Isn't it rather juvenile to be proud of something just because it happened to you randomly? Unless you happen to have chosen a different religion than the one you were born into, of course. But then pride in your chosen God is very dangerous indeed. Witness much history!

And no one "allows you" to be proud. You either are or you aren't.

If you mean "openly proud" then this is not a "virtue" I admire anyway. I can be proud in private of those things I am proud of and am fully satisfied with that. Also, I don't need others to know what I'm proud of. I don't need their approval. If what I'm doing is against their so-called laws or upsets them then I'll do it anyway, in private. I don't need to advertise and I don't need a public audience.

"I'm *fill in the blank* and I'm proud" (privately and quietly and without bothering anyone else with it)

:)

How old does the boy have to be before you start hating him and not his parents?

One can dislike a child from any age upwards. Hate is a strong word though. Hate the kid for being a rapist or murderer but not for having long hair!!! Of course, if he's French... :)

Well I haven't raped or murdered anyone so I guess I'm good? :P

Well, it's a good starting point. But self-praise is no recommendation, clearly.

Nice pic of you in your avatar, btw. You look like a quiet and studious person. Full marks, ...so far.

How old PhQinx?

Just as one could choose to change religion, one can equally choose to STAY with the religion one was born into, or indeed to refute religion altogether.

Equally, one can choose to not approve of the actions, belief, or other aspects of history in whatever situation one might have been born into. I am proud to live in London because I love pretty much everything about it, but some people in, say, Bristol, for example, may feel shame for its links with the slave trade. Others may be completely oblivious of it. Many gay people proclaim themselves to be proud of their sexuality, whilst others are ashamed and disgusted by this difference and uncontrollable non-conformity.

In short, you're blindly ignoring the existence of personal choice, and that it is possible to give consideration before feeling proud of something over which one may not have any direct control, in order to support an already incredibly flimsy argument.

As the wonderful zooo once said: "I do love England lots and lots. It's ace."
