The Project Managers - New Script?

I recently animated a sketch which got better feedback than i thought it would (Project managers 1) so I thought that seeing as the characters are already drawn I could write a few more sketches. Even though I sort of don't like writing rude stuff. Here's potentially my next one.

The Project Managers - Episode 2

Brian sits down in Steve's office.

Steve
Thanks for coming in Brian. I just wanted a quick chat because I've received a worrying number of complaints about your behaviour recently.

Brian
Complaints about what?

Steve
Because this is such an awkward subject to talk about I've decided to tell you in a light hearted Letterman style top 5 list. I've even made a Powerpoint presentation with sound effects.

Steve hits a key on his laptop and Drum Roll FX start.

Steve
In 5. Bad Personal Hygiene. Janice from marketing said, and I quote, "He smells like he bathes in Donkey Piss". So maybe a rethink on your choice of aftershave there.

Brian
Ok, I had no idea it was so objectionable.

Steve hits a key on his laptop and Drum Roll FX start.

Steve
In 4. Invasion of sexual privacy. Sally from upstairs says that whenever you look at her she feels like you're mentally undressing her. Now Brian, I can't emphasize enough how seriously we take sexual harassment here.

Brian
But I don't even know who ‘Sally from upstairs' is?

Steve
She's the Blonde girl with Big Tits. Normally I'd just put this sort of thing down to a misunderstanding, but I've had similar complaints about you from Becky, Caroline and Big Dave.

Steve hits a key on his laptop and Drum Roll FX start.

Steve
In 3. Alan from Personnel says you make these weird faces when you're taking a crap.

Brian
I do not! And hang on! When's he seen me taking a crap?

Steve immediately hits a key on his laptop and Drum Roll FX start.

Steve
In 2. Did a Poo in the Office.

Brian
That's Bullshit!

Steve
Afraid not, we actually sent it off to a lab and they confirmed it to be human. They also suggested you should try to eat more fibre.

Brian
Look Steve, I don't know what's going on here but none of these accusations are true and I'm not going to listen to this anymore.

Steve
Just let me finish, I spent all morning on this slideshow.

Steve hits a key on his laptop and Drum Roll FX start.

Steve
And the number one complaint about Brian is.... your usage of foul language around the Office.

Brian
Oh F**k Off!!

I've finished the last few lines of the sketch now. Nobody like it?

Yeah it's OK. I do like the idea, kind of. IMO maybe you should have a rewrite and come back later?

BTW, what channel is Letterman on now?

Cheers Leevil. Yeah back to the drawing board with this one.

Isn't he on one of the ITVs.

I like it, I can see this working after watching the other one with its deadpan style of delivery.
I would add "She's that slutty blonde with big.."

Hey ShoePie

Nice idea but you could make it a lot funnier, I think. Punchline is a bit weak in my opinion. Felt like a cheap way out to just throw in a swear word. There must be something that causes more offence -- couldn't each item get slowly more ridiculous as you go along?

Dan

Thanks for the comments.

That does sound better, pushing the sexual harassmenty attitude angle of the boss a bit more.

Yeah, reading it again you're absolutely right. I struggled to finish this sketch but I'll check my left field and see if I can think of something else.

I like it a lot - definitely potential there though a couple of lines could be trimmed slightly.

Don't give up on it yet.

I like this a lot, Kerry.

I'd lose the Letterman reference and just have it as a top five list though. And as an alternative punchline, how about replacing the swear with "crivens!" or some such?

The first project manager's scene is awesome and this is just as good.Keep it coming!

Very funny, but rather than explain it as in the stylee of Letterman, do a pull back and reveal that there's a guy on the drums.

Also the final punch is a tad weak.

But otherwise can'[t wit to see it animated.

Liked this muchly, agree the punch line maybe a wee bit week but then again I still think it works.

:)

I really liked it. I think maybe making it a bit more 'out there' would help it. Instead of it being a Powerpoint presentation, literally the ENTIRE Dave Letterman stage setup appears and the boss begins talking in a brash American accent. I like how it goes from "when has he seen me on the toilet" in a beat to "Number 2, doing a poo in the office!" - with an arrogant American accent that could be the line of the sketch for its sheer bluntness.

Nice work :)

It's funny. I don't think you need the Letterman framing though.

Thanks for the comments. We recorded the audio last weekend, the script has changed quite a bit so some new jokes are in there now.

I really like the idea of the Letterman set/audience appearing to push the absurdness and make the most of the medium. If I had more time I think I'd do that.

Excellent PodCast Tom! Just listening to it now.
