As always, feel free to ignore me but I would say that:

Mobile phone company - good idea but make sure you know what your joke is e.g. having to give the mast away free purely so your new 3G phone will have network coverage.
999 call centre - could go either way - make it quick and snappy, perhaps a 3 part runner
Panel games - not likely to be the sort of thing they want (but you never know).

Thanks for the comments:

Mobile phone company - The sketch mainly revolves around the annoyance of having phone masts near where you live (something I'm going to experience soon, thnak you very much Vodafone).
999 call centre - I think it may work. The sketch is basically about how annoying it would be if you to go through one of those "Please press 1" things if you simply wanted to get the fire brigade.
Panel games - This is probably my weakest sketch. I worte it because they said they were looking for sketches that parodied genres. I may well replace that one if I get a better idea.

Mobile phone one could involve getting increasingly worse diseases due to radiation maybe, just a thought.

Just thought I'd mention that this has already been * done. It was written by one of the writers that post here. (can't remember who now)

* I don't mean, it's been done on RFTP, I meant it's simply already been written.

I've done that.

Damn! Never mind, I can always try and think of something else, there's still plenty of time until the deadline.

It's about modern communication. I'm sure a man of your talents could twist any sketch to fit that frame of reference.

My problem in coming to grips with the brief is that I think modern life is rubbish and try to have as little to do with it as possible. Do you think they would be up for a Pathé News pastiche?

How do you explain communication to somebody else though?

I've done that. Yonks ago!

They still had Pathe News when I was a kid.. :(

I am having trouble with the brief too. It's pretty boring trying to come up with gags about 'modern communications' with no visuals. Maybe it's an age thing, I dunno. I thought I'd finish my career on LastOTSWine but now it looks like I'll have to start there!

I wrote that!

Liked that on a lot.

Certainly agree with those who've said it seems hard to come up with an idea within brief, for a radio gag. Maybe it's my age.

Wasn't going to bother submitting at all but may have a cople of ideas after a weekends constant thought. Well, as much thought as I could squeeze in while potty training.

I'd have thought you'd have learnt to use the big toilet by now. :P
(boom boom tissssh!)

Is this kind of thing any good for it?

Yours is certainly a piss take! :P

Badoom Pish :)

I used the method approach.

Isn't radio communication? A spoof radio news link?

What are we looking for?
As in previous series, sketches about modern communication. Whether you talk about the method or the content, that's what it's about. Things that seem to work include
·Parodies of genres rather than specifics (so: arts programmes rather than simply Imagine or The South Bank Show).
·Thinly-veiled attacks on recognisable celebrities/personalities (eg, politician/journalist Boris Moron; dandy TV presenter/stand-up Danny Vain)
·Jokes about communication and communicating - eg email, messageboards, SMS, Blackberry, stadium/transport announcements, voicemail, podcasts, and so on

Some ideas of mine: Troll, blog, spamming, trojan horse, ROFL, lurking, phishing, computer virus, I'm feeling lucky, blog and downloading, bump, poking, favourites, forum, thread, thread hijack, attachment, bulk email, service provider, platform announcement, etc
