Some South Korean sources dismiss the news report, so perhaps it'll turn out t o be much ado about nothing.

How very intriguing! I wouldn't like to speculate myself, but it will be rather interesting to see what, if anything, they have to say.

North Korea is a fascinatingly f**ked-up country. A monumental hotel that was disappeared after it couldn't be completed, kidnappings of Japanese civilians via submarines ...

China and South Korea are going to have a hell of a refugee problem if the government ever falls.

God, the awful noise it used to make! :D

Plus the pointless wait for the super-duper 256x192 pixel loading screen to load itself.

Six minutes on the edge of your seat waiting for a 41K program to load and then failing at the last second, so you'd have to get your little screwdriver and adjust the azimuth screw in your tape recorder.

Of course, you tell the kids today and they don't believe you.

I remember in Uni I was telling my Spectrum story and two of the people were like "You used to use casettes?? We've never even had casettes in our car."

copying was loads easier in them days lol

My mate Garry had the Currah Microspeech. Made Stephen Hawking sound like Richard Burton.

I'd rather be a 70s kid. 1982 belongs to the long 8th decade, I'd say.

I was a 70s kid. It was shit.

Laughing out loud

There was a rather unpleasant change of government in the year I was born. I'm an era Kohl kid. *That* was shit, my friend. 16 years of shit.

I'm not saying the 80s were any better. The 90s looked quite promising, but by then I was no longer a kid.

My old Apple ][e had a game with a few seconds of speech. I was amazed.

My Army buddy had an old Commodore 64 in the 80s which he'd connect to a shortwave receiver and we'd watch the teletype news from Pyongyang and Tass print across the monochrome monitor. Fun times.

I remember paying a ridiculous amount of money for a Compuserve account and waiting an incredibly long time for a tiny green GIF of a naked woman to paint itself on my screen at 300 bits per second.

The Internet really is for porn!
