The Sun Has Got His Hat On

As some of you may know I'm a sucker for all things space-like, but even the most disinterested stargazer couldn't fail to be impressed by these truly incredible pictures of the closest star to Earth...the Sun.

Just look at its power and majesty...created by Mother Nature herself, just to keep David Dickinson chestnut-brown. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2008/10/the_sun.html

I'm also a space nut (and it pays the bills) but as an amateur radio enthusiast I wish the damn sunspot cycle would pick up already. This quiet sun is a little disquieting.

Arggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! I looked right into it!!!!

Yes ol' Sol has been a bit quiet lately. What could it mean do you think?

Rolling eyes

It's not yellow! :(

I love space stuff too but it doesn't pay any of my bills. Mind you, that leaves me free to just enjoy it rather than being under pressure to get it right.

Some morons believe that the lack of sunspots is what is causing global warming.

Some people also believe that global warming might help to offset a potential cooling effect related to decreased solar activity. Google Maunder Minimum if you're interested in the subject.

That image is giving off heat; If you put your hand infront of that picture your hand gets warmer.

I love all that space stuff too, Patrick Moore is more interesting to read than he is to watch.

I wonder how many tried putting their hand in front of it...
Come on 'fess up!
:)

I love space too. I've been addicted to the tv series, The Universe lately.

Any cooling is welcomed by me.

I did it. Is the monitor giving off heat, or is it the heat of my hand being reflected back off the screen? Or am I just imagining it? Hmm.
