I thought this was really poor as well. I mean, there was the occasional good moment. For instance, when the songs had finished and they went to walk off stage but had nowhere to go, leaving them just standing around confused in the background, I thought that was a fairly good observation, but the majority of it was rubbish. The irony seemed to be that in creating something that seemed to be looking to parody reality TV, what was actually created was something that did just actually seem like just another reality TV show, with far too little comedy. What observations there were were far too weak. The whole 'they only pick people with tragic backstories' thing is an observation that thousands upon thousands of people have made. It just seemed too easy. Also, yet again you see a Peter Kay programme with dwarves, which he obviously sees as being a great staple of comedy (THEY'RE BELOW AVERAGE HEIGHT! TO THE LOLMOBILE!), and I haven't even mentioned the songs yet, it was basically just 'THEY'RE SINGING THE SONGS, BUT NOT THE WAY THEY'RE TRADITIONALLY SUNG! HILARITY ENSUES!', the Kaiser Chiefs song being a prime example. In short, it was just lazy.
As somebody else has said, there's no need to parody these shows, as they're very much a parody of themselves. This probably shouldn't have been made. It was poor.
This is my first proper post outside the introduce yourself forum. Hello outside world.
