Does it not? I never use active threads so I don't know.
Just do it. It's an order. If no one else has posted, then it'll just be added onto the end of your exisintg one. If someone else HAS posted, then it'll be a new post, but no one will miss it.

I've only just started using it a little in the past few weeks. It was very much an afterthought.
And really badly built.
