What colouuuur?

Just black I'm afraid.

OOoo! Any thoughts on it? Recommended? XP or Linux?

XP. I like it, but I only bought it because when I first moved to London I had to stay in one teeny room, so it was convenient. Seems to have a lot of bits and pieces on it-but I'm afraid I've only ever used it to go on-line! Handy little thing though.

XP or Linux?

It's still a work-in-progress hack and it's somewhat illegal, but don't forget OS X.

I'd probably be getting a black one. Do you know if it's a special version of XP Home specifically for the Eee, or just the standard one that you get on any other machine?

(I wouldn't be using mine, should I get it, for much more than going online. Perhaps the odd bit of word processing or video, but no more.)

Yeah, I would rather have my cock chopped off and force-fed to me than (attempt to) use OSX. ;)

Anything set in a church is hell. Assuming it's a church wedding, Stott.

I can't help but develop the most insane thoughts whilst in church. I just want to misbehave so badly.

Thankfully, it's not in a church.

Thats like asking a retarded Eskimo about Quantum Physics I'm afraid Aaron. I know nuthink' about computers. I know it works when I press 'on'.

This looks promising, too:

Haha, ok, no problemo. I'll do some investigating. :)

Not positive, but I think it's a standard XP install.

Oo, interesting.

I really think I'd have to use XP though. Kinda fancy sticking with the Linux, but it won't support my browser.

Ah, thanks. I can get a (100% legal) copy of XP for free, so I'd definitely get the cheaper Linux version and install myself in that case. :)

Rolling eyes
Men.

:O Whaaaaaat? The white would get grubby (although the black would show scratches more), and, of what's available at present anyway, the version I would get is only available in black or white.

Otherwise I'd get a more pretty one.

One of the best thing about the Eee is that it's driving down the price of all laptops. Apple is rumored to be introducing a $799 MacBook this week. It's about time they broke into the sub-$1000 market.

P.S. MacBooks run XP very well. ;)

Oh alright then.
There were lots of pretty colours in the pictures I saw!
They should make all versions pretty.

Speaking of Mac laptops, the black one costs $100 more than an identically equipped white one - the infamous "black tax."

Apple would have a far greater share of the market, and thus higher profit, if they priced their hardware realistically.

Or, more to the point, unlocked their OS and software so it's not (legally and easily) tied down to their own crappy stuff.

Totally screw themselves over.

I agree. :)

(They do black, white, blue, green, and pink, I do believe.)

I agree. Most of their hardware is actually reasonably priced when you compare the components, but they're sorely in need of an entry level line of computers. Perhaps they'll remedy it this week.

I see an awful lot of Mac laptops these days when I travel. They seem almost ubiquitous on college campuses. I think Apple's market share is over 20% now and most of it is Microsoft's own fault. Vista, Windows Genuine "Advantage" and malware/spyware/adware/virii are destroying Microsoft's image amongst home computer users.
