Fifa 09

Who's got it? I'm playing it on XBOX 360 and it is great stuff. I'm quite a good player, I entered a competition in 2006 in my local pub and won it, I have the trophy in my living room.

I had a Fifa 96 competition in my house with 3 playstations and 32 peeps!
And I won and I still have the trophy, so I really share your joy, although I think pro evo is now the one to beat.

I have Fifa 09!

Enjoying it so far. Need to sit down and get to grips with it though.

I'll never forget the original FIFA. Sweet days.

Rico Salamar is forever in my heart.

I'm a PES man. 09 comes out in a week. Woo!

I'm sure that every Fifa discussion I've ever been involved in gets hijacked by people talking about PES. :P

Yep.

I was a Fifa man up until 98. Fifa 95 on the Mega Drive. God, those were the days . . .

I was always a FIFA man, but then I played PES (or whatever it was called then) in 2000. FIFA was a lot easier to pick up and play, but PES was more rewarding in the long term.

Got converted by a mate who got to some national finals of PES 4 in the BT tower, won some free stuff. He's quite good at it.

Yeah, PES was always sickenly hard the first few times you played it, but once figured it out, was very rewarding, and going back to FIFA, it felt a bit dull and predictable. Though maybe FIFA's catching up again.

When you have a manager mode, most people buy some players to add to your squad. I've noticed that many people buy players that nobody else would really consider buying. For example, a mate of mine always buys Emile Heskey and plays him regually, as he is a big Heskey fan. The player I always buy for my carear mode is the German striker Miroslav Klose. Not many people would buy him, but he's great in the air and is a great finisher on the game. He is seriously a player you should buy for your manager mode.

I can't wait until my Nephew's old enough to start playing footie games with me.

By the way, who remembers Matchday 1 and 2, on the Spectrum, back in the '80s?

I'm not sure if I do. I remember playing Football Manager in the '80s. It was all theory stuff, buying and selling, injuries, etc but was addictive nonetheless.

Some of he old arcade games were good as well. The earliest I remember was called Kick and Run. Then there was one called eithr World Cup '90, or Italia '90, which i could actually finish, quite easily. That stayed in the arcades for years, and is probably still in a few today.

By the way, speaking of arcades, has anyone been into one lately? I haven't been into one since the '90s, and I was was wondering, now that people have brilliant graphics at home, on their consoles, do new arcade games still get made? I know those dance games are popular, but what about Beat 'em ups etc?

I was in an amusement arcade several months ago. Loads more merchandising games now and gambling machines. Some good stuff like motorcycle and jet ski sit down games and an enclosed machine that revolves with a big screen inside showing a rollercoaster ride, Sick

Galaxian was my favourite arcade game.

I liked games like Double Dragon, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Outrun. There's a Hip hop group called People Under the Stairs, who actually wrote/recorded a song all about playing Outrun. I can still remember the music (from the Arcade game).
