British Comedy Guide

El Gringo

EXT. MEXICAN PUEBLO. DAY.

IT IS BRIGHT SUNSHINE. THE ABSENCE OF SHADOWS SHOW IT TO BE MIDDAY. TWO MEXICANS ARE SAT IN THE DIRT, PROPPED AGAINST THE WALL OF A WHITE-WASHED CANTINA. THEIR FACES ARE HIDDEN BENEATH MASSIVE SOMBREROS.

THE SHOT OPENS UP TO SHOW THAT SAT NEXT TO THEM IS AN OVERWEIGHT MAN WEARING ONLY UNION JACK SWIMMING SHORTS. HE IS LOBSTER RED AND SWEATING PROFUSELY. HIS HEAD IS BARE AND HE HAS A REFLECTIVE FACE-TANNER PROPPED BENEATH HIS CHIN.

END.

I like it, but I'm not sure it stands alone. I imagine it'd be great in a Britons abroad comedy.

Didn't really get the joke. Sorry Timbo.

That's because you're Australian. You people understand sun.

Yes, you are probably right. The idea made me smile, but I couldn't be arsed to do anything more with it...

Maybe you should start cartooning...

Mexicans under sombreros is possibly a dated cultural reference. (Reminder to self to seek out books of old Punch cartoons on the intranet.)

Enjoyed those. I recognised his style instantly. He did some good work for Punch back in the day.
