I would say 'Queen rocks', cos they're a band singular.
But you say 'Queen rock', cos you're thinking of them as a group of people so it's plural.

I think that although formally you are more correct, it's one of those things where it just doesn't sound right. So yeah.

But either way, I share the aforementioned sentiments.

Would you say Radiohead is a great band, or Radiohead are a great band?

(If you liked them.) :)

I just like to keep in touch with both sides of my sexuality. You never know when it's going to come in handy.

Emphasis on the handy, if experience is anything to go by.

Thats why you were wearing blusher when we first met. And gave Bussell a hand job. I didn't like to ask at the time.

Why the hell didn't they do that at the meet up? Angry

I would say Radiohead are. I'm always confused as to why Americans use 'is' in that sort of situation.

is

I know nothing of them to make such a judgement of course, but for the purpose of argument. :)

Well, Ben didn't call him the next day. There's been some amount of tension ever since.

Stay longer next time! And hang round the mensroom.

I say is.
I always thought Americans say are.

Sounds like a plan!

It should be 'is'. Plural subjects take the singular verb. Or was that Latin? In newspapers, football teams are referred to with 'is' on the news pages and 'are' on the sport pages. TRUFAX.

So perhaps it's "Radiohead is" on the news pages, and "Radiohead are" on the pop page. If such a thing exists these days. I've no idea, I haven't listened to Radio 1 since David 'Kid' Jensen left.

Ooh. Interesting nugget!!

Tell us more if you think of any. I always like a nugget.

It's a collective singular. That's why the verb is singular. *nugget nugget*

Edit: Argh. I meant plural. The verb is plural. In English. In German it's singular.

*nods politely and leaves thread again*
