Archbishop Peter Akinola cites sheep sex arrest as proof of Britain's moral decline

The Most Rev Peter Akinola, one of the most powerful figures in the Anglican Communion, has cited a man's arrest for having sex with sheep as proof of Britain's moral decline.

GREENVILLE, Maine (AP) -- There's no such thing as a free lunch anymore for Black Frog Restaurant patrons nervy enough to run down a dock and plunge naked into Moosehead Lake.

Owner Leigh Turner decided Thursday to stop giving out a free Skinny Dip sandwich -- that's thinly sliced prime rib on a baguette -- for a skinny dip after the town board voted to deny his liquor license renewal application.

In their decision the night before, selectmen in the popular tourist town noted that they would have had no problem granting the license if the promotion ended for the $10.95 sandwich.

Thus, said Turner, dropping the deal was a no-brainer. "Au jus" wins out over "au naturel."

He had said last year that he had two or three takers a week, and no frontal nudity was exposed to customers. But police said they had gotten several complaints, and three people received summonses for indecent conduct. They have pleaded not guilty.

Authorities noted that stories about the Skinny Dip had circulated worldwide, and the indecency charge is a misdemeanor, like disorderly conduct. Police Chief Scott MacMaster said he would recommend any establishment lose its liquor license for illegal goings-on.

According to the Black Frog's Web site, its sandwiches also include The Chicken That Didn't Make it Across the Road, and one of the house rules is "No food fights unless specifically authorized by your server."

Impressive beard. :)

It's no longer with me, but every couple of years I go 12 months or so without shaving or cutting my hair.

This photo was taken the day I went to the Coachella music festival in the California desert. A guy from London stopped me and asked if I could say something to his friends back home, so I recited a bit of the Star Spangled Banner and other weird stuff for his video camera.

:D That sounds great. I hate shaving.

I bet you're on YouTube somewhere. :)

I wish this law had existed when my kids were teens ...

(CNN) -- Frustrated parents are dumping their teenagers at Nebraska hospitals -- even crossing state lines to do it -- and the state Legislature has scheduled a special hearing to try to stem the tide.

Nebraska's "safe haven" law, intended to allow parents to anonymously hand over an infant to a hospital without being prosecuted, isn't working out as planned.

Of the 17 children relinquished since the law took effect in July, only four are younger than 10 -- and all four are among the nine siblings abandoned by a man September 24 at an Omaha hospital.

On Tuesday, a 14-year-old girl from Council Bluffs, Iowa, was abandoned at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, just across the Missouri River from Council Bluffs. The case marks the first time a parent has crossed state lines to abandon a teenager in Nebraska, authorities said.

"The few situations we've seen so far demonstrate the need for a change in Nebraska's safe haven law," Gov. Dave Heineman said in a statement Monday. "In the coming legislative session, I will advocate for changes that put the focus back on protecting an infant in danger. That should be our priority." Isn't there a similar problem with granny dumping?

Two policemen were recently brought before a court in Germany because they had abandoned a drunken young man far outside town on a country lane to get rid of him. He was run over by a car and died.

Seems to be a trend to just literally relocate problems.

Not by family members, at least as far as I know.

London will have a chance shortly before the Olympics. The host cities usually bribe/coerce/force the homeless to keep out of sight during their "big moment."
