It may not be quite a sketch show, it's more than that, but I don't think you could really class The League as a sit-com. I don't think of it like that anyway.

I know what you mean.
But for the purposes of threads like these, I can happily call it a sitcom. :)

I do.

Well, it's not really a sit-com. Series one and two were an evolved version of the sketch show; in series three, each episode was a study of different characters, much like a 'Human Remains', or a 'That Peter Kay Thing', only there was a linking framework bubbling away in the background. I don't think you could really call that a sit-com.

It's also categorised as a sitcom by the BCG. So that's definitive, as far as I'm concerned. :P

You want to have a word then-because that is incorrect information you're spreading into the web-iverse!! Think of the damage you could be doing!!!

Well there are certainly dubious elements. But it's a half-hour comedy programme which concentrates on a single community and a single group of established main characters. It may vary on which character is pushed to the forefront in different episodes, but that is to an extent true of most shows.

It fills more than enough of the necessary criteria to be classed as a sitcom IMO.

Right; that's it-! Get Mark Gatiss on the bloody phone and ask him straight out!

Oh would that I could... Lovey

He's a full on professional gay Zooo, you might have a bit of a struggle on your hands!

But I could still follow him around and do his ironing!

Or something. His full time bitch, if you will.

You want me to give him a bell(end)?

She likes a challenge.

Zooo could turn any man. But then she'd have to turn them back again, or she'd lose interest.

She likes a man wavering over the boundaries. Someone who likes the ladies (although not too much), but isn't afraid of a little manly 'appreciation'.

Best of both worlds.

Yum!

League of Gentlemen can definately be classified as a sitcom of sorts and a bloomin brilliant one at that.

I never got the love for Green Wing though. Very hit and miss.

Green Wing is f**king awful.

I'd class LoG just about a sitcom as it does have a continuing story.
