British Comedy Guide

Funniest non-comedians

As someone mentioned John Sargent as being a very funny non-comic (though he was a sketch writer in his uni days) he's obviously someone who has made his career outside of comedy.

So which non-comics make you laugh from any section of media or celebrity?

For me Morrissey is a very funny man and gave good account of himself on J Ross a few years back. But it's probably Celtic boss Gordon Strachan who's the funniest. Dead pan genius.

From acting both Richard Wilson and Martin Clunes are always good - especially Clunes on HIGNFY.

So, over to you.

Keith Moon was often hilarious.

Gyles Brandreth. (Although he did co-write the astonishingly witty and cutting Dear Ladies.)

Yay! \o/ That was me!!

I find 'the ginger doctor', that HIGNFY have on occasionally, really funny too. Don't know his name. I think he writes a column somewhere.

And Ian Holloway (football manager) is very funny too.

Sorry I should have said you rather than just 'someone'. I was too quick to run off and start the thread.

Boris Johnson, Karl Pilkington, Richard E Grant, Brian Blessed - all very funny.

BORIS! Of course! Flipping awesome. Boris Boris Boris. He rules. :)

It's all good. :)

Loony rock singer Robyn Hitchcock can be hilarious, he does these long insane rambles inbetween his songs on stage and they are often the highlight of his show.

And of course... Tom Baker.

Dr Phil Hammond. Although he is listed on Wikipedia as a comedian.

Phil Hammond, not strictly a non-comedian as he did have his own TV sketch show, The Pink Medicine Show I think it was called, as well as penning a sitcom, Doctors and Nurses.

Will Self can be pretty funny.

Ah yes, Boris and Karl Pilkington.

I have never listened to the Ricky Gervais podcasts because you had to pay for them. So Karl Pilkington is a bit of a mystery to me. Are they online anywhere? Probably on BitTorrent if I could be arsed to look.

Jackie Leven is another singer whose links are often more entertaining and longer than his songs.
