What The Americans Think Of Winston Churchill

This made me laugh probably a little more than it should've done. Gratuitous swearing + pigshit ignorance = hilarity

Laughing out loud I think that goes for most North Americans. Either we don't know who he is or we idealize him for no other reason that what's written here and that he was a war time Prime Minster.

The teens in my neighborhood attend one of two high schools:

or http://www.neisd.net/reagan/

Yea we have two schools named after him in my city as well along with a Queen Elizabeth Public and Queen Mary.
On the other hand we do have one named after Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau.

But my favorite contrast is between the English High school Sir Wilfrid Laurier and the French High School Louis-Riel. Laughing out loud
Laurier was one of our first Prime Minsters who sent troops against the Métis French rebel Louis-Riel during the Red River Rebellion.

That's cool don't worry about it. We are a nation of onlookers but also silent partners in some great history. We know every other countries history better than our own often times.
The Red River Rebellion was pretty bad ass. If you want a good read and your into comics I highly recommend the award winning graphic novel by Chester Brown titled Lois Riel: A comic Strip Biography.

It's one of my favorite books not just comic books.
War wise there was the war of 1812. It was a pretty intense war between Canada and the US which we won in the end.

Our military history is also tied tightly to the British especially during the two great wars for example Vimy Ridge, Passchendaele, Battle of the Atlantic, the Dieppe Raid in France, the Allied invasion of Italy, the D-Day landings, the Battle of Normandy, the Battle of the Scheldt in 1944 were credited by the Netherlands for having liberated their country. ect..ect..ect..
We lost 40% of our population during WW2 alone.
Hope that helps.

That is ace. And they've even managed to get the flag correct. :)

What's the flag in the middle on that photo on the first page though?

They have an awesome indie music scene at the moment. Does that count?

SHIT! Sorry I messed up when I was writing that.
We lost 45,300 of our 11,267,000 population. WOOO! My bad! That's .40% of the population.

Quite the opposite.

Ah. Not quite so bad then!

But you can imagine how big of a lose that would be for small population when that much of their male population just vanishes.

And yes...our indi music is awesome.

That's the Texas state flag. You're as likely to see one of them waving around here as you are an American flag.
