Tonight will be the first time ever a Green Party leader will be in the Federal debates. Although they are in French tonight...so I probably won't watch.

They would translate for them but they all speak French. Poorly many of them but French none the less.
The last time we had a leader who couldn't speak French in the debates was a guy named Preston Manning of the Reform Party. A far right wing party from the west. He had a lot of support back in Alberta but that's about it (I know they won 1 seat in Ontario).
But yea overall you can't win unless you're bilingual because the French won't vote for you if you can't speak french and the English (at least the ones out West) won't vote for you unless you speak English.
Also to win a majority you pretty well NEED Quebec. And they rarely vote for anyone unless they are from....wait for it...Quebec.
