If I'm honest, that's what I think everyone should do. All this vote for your mates stuff is bollox! Of course, as I have no mates, I would say that wouldn't I! 
Btw do like the gag in your "Paris" vid Dave ... shame they put the wrong one/wrong edit up though... can't you get the f**kers to change it or sumfink? It may get my vote, I dunno yet. I'm only gonna vote once ...of course, my fingers are shaky.. being old..

I think we'd all like to see a competition based on talent rather than popularity, but then the organisers would have no stake in things. All they're interested in is advertising, which equates to getting as many people to the site as possible. 15 comedians/comedy groups voting on each other's videos isn't going to sell much gum.
