Scriptapalooza

Has anyone entered this? The deadline for the latest competition is October 1st, fee is $40.

No. But you've reminded me of Groucho Marx going elephant hunting in Alabama because the tusks are looser there!

Is it for film or T.V.?

It doesn't matter. It's $40.

You'd have to be pretty damn confident of winning to go for a contest that cost $40 to enter.

And the winner is --- Scriptapalooza!!!

If you paid $40 and didn't win - what are you?

You're a Scriptapa-loser!!!

(laughs all the way to the bank)

Are any of the past winning scripts now well-known films/shows?

Scriptapalooza actually looks like a fairly established, respected comp, which is astounding considering the 20 quid entry fee would buy a great big bottle of voddie and SEVERAL bags of crisps, which is of course the staple diet of most comedy writers. *munch, slurp*

I thought most writers, well the ones here anyway, survived on a diet of jealously with a side order of self loathing.

What am I doing in here? Shit I'm bored.

Can anyone answer my last question? I want to know if it's worth entering.

Only you can truly decide that.

I'd do some research first, though. Like someone said earlier, are any previous entries now hit TV shows/films.

Mnd you, the word Scriptapalooza itself doesn't bestow me with a lot of confidence.
Sounds like it's calling entrants losers in a (not so) subtle way.

Oh, and I googled the screenplays of past winners. Never heard of any of them, even though they had been "optioned" by ProdCo's.

I think the name's derived from a big rock festival called "Lollapalooza" or some such.

But any comp that asked for 20 quid up front can f**k right off.

If want advice this forum might be better... http://forums.celtx.com/index.php I think quite a few memembers have taken part in pervious years...

That's what I thought when I entered it and even if I won and nothing came of it, it'd be impressive to have a competition win on my CV, I entered the 1 hour existing drama category.
