PC Shutdown Timer

Can anyone recommend a FREE shutdown timer for a pc? It MUST have a force shutdown option.

I did have one but my virus protection suddenly decided to delete it. I'm now using one for Vista, but the force shutdown option doesn't seem to be working. I use remote desktop from my laptop to view my pc and this means I have to use the forced shutdown option.

ShutdownPro.

Hmmm. I'm trying this and it's not working. I've installed, but when I run the program all it does is put an icon on my taskbar. And if I go to click it, it disappears. Am I doing something wrong?

*tries downloading different version*

Maybe you need to upgrade to XP?

Unless you're already on XP, and just using a Vista app randomly...

I am on XP. I've got a later version now, and it seems to be working. Just need to figure out how to use it now.

Thanks Finck.

Edit; You can set a shutdown time can't you?

On ShutdownPro? Yes. In several different ways.

IIRC, try right-clicking the icon.

Ok. *tries to remember how to right click over Remote Desktop when I've only got one pad on my Mac*

*talks to self* Is it SHIFT and click?

ctrl?

One of them. At the moment I keep closing my pc down whilst trying to open the preferences. >_< Very annoying.

Aaaah, is SHIFT & CTRL. Sorted. Thanks.

PC Shutdown-Timer - sounds like a bumbling cop in an Agatha Christie murder mystery.

Cool, I think I've got the hang of it now. Again, thankyou.

Do you not have physical access to your PC?

Yes. Kind of.. It's in a cupboard, out the way (I may have posted it in that workstation thread). But I normally leave it running overnight, and needed an auto shutdown program so it's off before I get up. Using remote desktop tends to stop most shutdown programs working, hence the force shutdown option. :)

What remote desktop facility are you using?

Err it's just called Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) from MicroSoft (I think)

Ah, here it is.
